THE BAPTISM OF JESUS

WHAT HAPPENED
Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. John tried to stop Him — 'I need to be baptized by You!' — but Jesus insisted, 'to fulfill all righteousness.' As Jesus came up from the water, the heavens opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove, and the Father's voice spoke: 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'
WHAT JESUS TAUGHT
At the very start of Jesus' ministry, the Father declared His love and the Spirit came upon Him. Baptism marks the beginning of a public life of following God.
