LUKE
THE DOCTOR WHO EXAMINED EVERYTHING — AND BELIEVED
“The beloved physician who wrote a Gospel and Acts.”
MEET LUKE
A physician trained to trust evidence investigated everything from the beginning — and gave the world the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts.
THE STORY
Luke was a doctor — 'the beloved physician,' Paul called him — trained to observe carefully and to be skeptical of easy answers. So when he set out to write about Jesus, he did it like a doctor: 'having followed all things closely for some time past… that you may have certainty.' He interviewed eyewitnesses. He traced records. And the evidence led him to worship. Luke gave us more of the New Testament by volume than any other writer — the Gospel of Luke and Acts — preserving the Christmas story, the Prodigal Son, the Good Samaritan, and the road to Emmaus. He also lived it: sailing with Paul, shipwrecked with Paul, and at the end, when everyone else had gone, Paul wrote: 'Only Luke is with me.'
