MARK (JOHN MARK)

THE QUITTER WHO CAME BACK — AND WROTE A GOSPEL

“The young man who failed, was restored, and wrote a Gospel.”

MEET MARK (JOHN MARK)

John Mark abandoned his first missionary journey and split up Paul and Barnabas. Then grace rewrote his story — and he wrote a Gospel.

THE STORY

Mark's story starts with failure. He joined Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey — and quit halfway, going home to Jerusalem. When Barnabas wanted to give him a second chance, Paul refused so sharply that the two apostles split up over him. Imagine being the reason. But Barnabas took Mark and rebuilt him, and Peter fathered him in the faith — 'Mark my son.' Years later, from Peter's own eyewitness memories, Mark wrote the first Gospel ever penned — fast-moving, vivid, the word 'immediately' on almost every page. And the man who once refused him? Paul's final letter asks: 'Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.' Grace gets the last word.
