BOAZ
THE KINSMAN-REDEEMER
“The kinsman-redeemer whose kindness pictured Christ.”
MEET BOAZ
A wealthy man of Bethlehem who greeted his harvesters with 'The LORD be with you!' — and noticed a foreign widow gleaning at the edges of his field. His kindness became one of the Bible's clearest pictures of Christ.
THE STORY
Boaz went far beyond the law's requirements: extra grain dropped on purpose, protection, water, a seat at his table. When Ruth asked him to spread his covering over her, he honored her before the whole town and paid every cost to redeem her — because a redeemer must be family, must be able, and must be willing. Son of Rahab, husband of Ruth, great-grandfather of David — and ancestor of the greater Redeemer born in that same Bethlehem.
