MEET TIMOTHY
Raised on Scripture by his mother and grandmother, timid young Timothy became Paul's 'true son in the faith' and pastor of the great church at Ephesus.
THE STORY
Paul met Timothy in Lystra — a young disciple with a believing mother, Eunice, and grandmother, Lois, who had taught him the Scriptures 'from childhood.' He became Paul's constant companion and most trusted delegate: 'I have no one like-minded,' Paul wrote. To this sometimes-timid young pastor with a nervous stomach, Paul sent the words every young believer needs: 'Let no one despise your youth, but be an example… God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Stir up the gift of God which is in you.'
