SIMEON
HE WAITED HIS WHOLE LIFE TO HOLD THE PROMISE
“The waiting worshiper who held the Consolation of Israel.”
MEET SIMEON
The Holy Spirit promised old Simeon he would not die before seeing the Messiah. Then one day, a young couple walked into the temple carrying a baby.
THE STORY
Simeon was just and devout, 'waiting for the Consolation of Israel' — and the Holy Spirit had whispered a promise to him: you will not see death before you have seen the Lord's Christ. So he waited. Years of watching, praying, hoping. Then one ordinary morning, the Spirit moved him to go into the temple — and there they were: Joseph, Mary, and a six-week-old baby. Simeon took the Child in his trembling arms and blessed God: 'Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace… for my eyes have seen Your salvation.' A lifetime of waiting, answered in one embrace. He held in his arms the One who had held him all along.
