PRISCILLA
SHE EXPLAINED THE WAY MORE ACCURATELY
“The tentmaker-teacher who, with Aquila, explained the way more accurately.”
MEET PRISCILLA
Tentmaker, teacher, church-host — Priscilla and her husband Aquila discipled the brilliant Apollos and risked their necks for Paul. A church met in her living room.
THE STORY
Priscilla and Aquila made tents alongside Paul in Corinth and became two of his closest co-workers. When the eloquent Apollos preached powerfully but incompletely, they didn't correct him publicly — 'they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.' Paul wrote that they 'risked their own necks' for his life, and that the churches of the Gentiles owed them thanks. In four of the six times Scripture names the couple, Priscilla is named first — a teacher, host, and pillar of the early church.
