MEET HANNAH
Provoked, misunderstood, and childless year after year — Hannah took her bitterness to the only One who could change it, and poured out her soul before the LORD.
THE STORY
At Shiloh she prayed so brokenly that Eli the priest thought she was drunk. 'No, my lord... I have poured out my soul before the LORD.' God remembered Hannah. She named her son Samuel — 'asked of God' — and when he was weaned, she did the unthinkable: gave her answered prayer back, lending him to the LORD all his days. Her song — 'My heart rejoices in the LORD... He raises the poor from the dust' — echoes centuries later in the song of another mother, Mary of Nazareth.
