ELIJAH
PROPHET OF FIRE
“The prophet who called down fire — and heard God whisper.”
MEET ELIJAH
Elijah stood alone against 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel and prayed one simple prayer. The fire of God fell.
THE STORY
Elijah was a man 'with a nature like ours' — bold on the mountain, exhausted in the wilderness. God fed him by ravens, sustained him with a widow's last flour, and after the fire spoke to him in a still, small voice. He never died — he was taken up in a whirlwind, and appeared with Moses beside Jesus at the Transfiguration.
