ANNA THE PROPHETESS
SHE NEVER LEFT THE TEMPLE
“The 84-year-old widow who never left the temple — and met the Redeemer.”
MEET ANNA THE PROPHETESS
Widowed young, she turned her loss into a lifetime of worship — fasting and praying in the temple night and day for decades, until the day an eight-day-old Messiah was carried through the door.
THE STORY
Anna was married seven years, then widowed — and she gave the rest of her life to God's house, serving 'with fastings and prayers night and day' until she was eighty-four. Luke says she 'did not depart from the temple.' So when Mary and Joseph walked in with a baby, Anna was exactly where she had always been — and instantly she knew. 'Coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.' A lifetime of waiting became one perfect moment of recognition.
